Jacqueline Barrett

OBITUARY

Jacqueline Barrett, 60, left us on October 1, 2023 with her son Marcus and family by her side. Jackie was born on July 24, 1963 in St. Catherine Jamaica to Muriel and Cleveland Bar-rett. Jackie came to America along with her siblings, Courtney and Trevis, in October 1971 and resided in South Shore Village for more than decade. After graduation from Glades Central Community High School in Belle Glade, FL, she started college with the intent of becoming a nurse. She later changed her career to become an educator. She graduated college and interned at the elementary school where her education began.

After moving to our family home in Royal Palm Beach, FL, she began teaching at New Horizons Elementary. Her career in education span more than 35 years until she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019. She truly loved teaching and was much loved by her students.

Her personal interests included spending time with family, enjoying her granddaughter Mia, going shopping with her late mother Muriel, caring for dog Lola, gardening, and going to the beach to watch the sun rise. Jackie leaves behind her only son Marcus and granddaughter Mia. She is survived by three brothers and their spouse: Courtney & Ernestine Morris of Stuart, Trevis & Deloris Barrett of Cape Coral & Calvin Barrett of Clermont. Her late brother Rowland Barrett and one sister and spouse: Claudia & Rodrecus Jackson of Port Saint Lucie. She spent her latest years in the company of her family and friends.

A Memorial Ceremony will be held on Saturday, October 21st, 2023, from 2:30 pm ~ 4:00 pm, at Lakeside Funeral Home & Cremation Care.
