Obituary for Ronald “Butch” J. Daniels, Sr.
Butch Daniels passed away on Tuesday, Mar 23, 2021 at the age of 85.

He was born Nov. 29, 1935 to Matthew and Charlotte (nee Cerankowski) Daniels, the third of their four children, in Elizabeth NJ. Butch graduated from Linden High School, Linden NJ in 1955. After High School Butch joined the Navy, serving on the USS Cadmus (AR-14) taking him to many countries touching the Atlantic. He often talked about all that he experienced during his time at sea. After his service concluded he became a Foreman and member of the National Automatic Sprinkler Union, Local 696. He married Rita (née Mauriello), with whom he had a son, Ronald Jr. They divorced, and in 1992 he then married Shirley (née Murray). He retired in April 1993 from Higgins Fire Protection Company. After retiring he and Shirley moved from New Jersey to sunny Loxahatchee, Florida to build their house and make it into a home, often jokingly called “Butch’s Bed and Breakfast” by friends and family alike. Butch was an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing, boating and hunting. He was also an excellent mechanic and all around handyman, known for lending his skills to anyone that asked for his help. Also in his repertoire was a love of cooking and baking which he was happy to do for company or by request.

Butch leaves behind his wife Shirley. His son Ron Daniels and wife Priscilla and grandson Myles. His sister Connie Drake. Step-sons Rick and Dan Drake and their children Taylor, Danielle, Connor and Colin. He was pre-deceased by his parents, his two siblings Claire and Bob, and step-son Steve Drake.

Butch’s many friends and family will miss his humor and quick wit, his generosity and love for all those close to him. He has left us with happy memories and gratitude for the time we spent with him and the comfortable sense of home that he fostered for us all.
